Here, There, and Everywhere is a free, monthly newsletter by The Ambrose, featuring updates here at the hotel, as well as interesting events around town.
August rushes by, the birds begin to plan their trips down south and somewhere, up north – nestled deep into the mountains the cool nights and early frosts remind us that another summer will soon be over. But we take comfort in the fact that the warm days will keep coming; that we still have time to pack up the car and hit the road in celebration of all those endless summer days we’re grateful for.

Camp Homeward Bound
Coalition for the Homeless
129 Fulton Street
New York, New York
www.coalitionforthehomeless.org
“The Coalition's Camp Homeward Bound, located in the pristine wilderness of Harriman State Park in upstate New York, is the country's first summer camp designed specifically for homeless children and offers the ideal respite from the uncertainty and despair of shelter life. The camp has a ratio of one counselor for every two campers, ensuring that children receive the personal attention and care that they need.
Camp Homeward Bound offers a popular and proven array of educational, recreational and creative programs to over 500 children every summer. Campers between the ages of 6 and 17 improve their literacy and computer skills, learn about science, explore nature, create art and music, and participate in non-competitive sports.
Camp Homeward Bound is certified as an alternative summer experience by the New York City Board of Education and serves as a successful model for the Board of Education's Break-Aways Partnership, which teams schools and summer camps to enhance children's literacy skills.
To further enable older campers to experience the connection with nature that they sorely miss while moving from shelter to shelter, the Coalition also offers Adventure Camp. This program teaches 14 to 17 year old campers wilderness camping and survival skills, preparing them to utilize these newfound abilities in a rugged five-day hike. For the second phase of Adventure Camp, campers learn web design or how to lifeguard. “
