Aid For AIDS prevents homelessness and hunger and improves the quality of life and independent living for those living with HIV/AIDS. AFA helps eligible individuals and families pay for the necessities of life: housing, utilities, transportation, nutritional supplements, medications not covered by insurance, and for those unable to transport items, the home delivery of fresh food. Assistance is intended as limited help, supplementing existing income or providing short-term emergency financial assistance pending receipt of other support, such as government benefits. Over 600 dependent children currently live in AFA-assisted households, and over 60% of clients are persons of color. A consistent focus on careful management and integrity of purpose has enabled AFA to apply 90% of revenue to fund client programs.
